Angelica Lopez, LMSW
Therapist
she/her
Angelica Lopez is a Licensed Master Social Worker whose work is rooted in supporting children,
adolescents, young adults, and families through periods of change, identity development, grief,
and complex family dynamics. Before becoming a therapist, Angelica worked in college access
and education with rural Northern New Mexico students, many of whom were first-generation
college students. Her background in advocacy and education shaped her commitment to helping
people feel that they belong, matter, and deserve access to meaningful support and opportunities.
Angelica earned her Master of Social Work with a concentration in Clinical Practice from New
Mexico Highlands University and completed her undergraduate social work education at St.
Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. Her approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, person-
centered, and strengths-based. She believes in meeting people where they are, offering an
invitation to feel seen and heard, explore vulnerable parts of themselves, and develop a deeper
relationship with self.
Angelica is particularly interested in working with children and adolescents, LGBTQIA+
individuals, parents and caregivers, and people who may be entering therapy for the first time.
Her clinical interests include anxiety, depression, identity, family dynamics, sexual trauma, life
transitions, and grief and loss. Her graduate study of ambiguous grief has especially shaped her
interest in the many forms grief can take, including experiences related to caregiving, serious
illness, family separation, and having an incarcerated parent. She incorporates elements of ACT,
DBT, parts work, somatic approaches, narrative therapy, grief work, and trauma-informed care
based on each person’s individual needs.
Born and raised in Albuquerque, Angelica returned to New Mexico after completing her
undergraduate education in Austin and has called Española home since 2020. Outside of work,
she enjoys literary fiction and fantasy, movies, following the WNBA, traveling, puzzles,
spending time in nature, and caring for her collection of individually named plants.
